Restaurants

Here are a few restaurants to consider.  Some come and go and change overnight so check them out before you go..

Our most favorite restaurant in the Keys.

****Pierre’s Restaurant:   Mile post 82, bayside. This is a really terrific restaurant. Wonderful bar at beach level, great sunset views from the restaurant on the second level (ask for a window table when you make reservations); excellent continental cuisine and matching prices. 305 6645225.

My wife and I often just eat in the bar. It is beautiful room- the cocktails are great (about $8.00-12.00) and they will serve you anything you want off the menu. We just get appetizers and have a really nice time. We hope you will support Pierre’s and help ensure its continued existence.

***Morada Bay Restaurant on the Beach-, bay side. Milepost 81.9. This is a fun place, and kids have a running around the beach.. Situated between the World Wide Sportsman and Pierre’s restaurant. Prices are reasonable and the food is pretty good. Upbeat waiters and music most nights. 305-664-0604

Kaiyo: Milepost 81.7, Oceanside (but no view A high-quality, nicely decorated, relatively expensive Japanese restaurant. Reservations generally needed. 305-664-5556

**HUNGRY TARPON: This interesting and pleasant breakfast/lunch place is located Bayside eat milepost 77.5. The deadline for getting breakfast varies somewhat and averages around 11 AM. They have kept the same cook for several years an amazing feat for the Keys. The omelets and quesadillas are good, as is the coffee. 305 664 0535.

If you have to wait, the wait is pleasant and even entertaining. Normally, behind the restaurant is a vendor of all kinds of imported costume jewelry at $3-$5, and other items.

Immediately adjacent to the restaurant is "Robbie's Marina” a tarpon feeding and boat rental place. For one dollar, you can go out on their dock and (for an additional dollar) feed the most amazing bunch of huge tarpons you will ever see. Robbie has several boats the for rent, as well as snorkel gear and beer and soda for sale. I think you would enjoy renting one of Robbie's pontoon boats and taking a trip around the several nearby islands. Indian Key, less than 1 mile from Robbie's is an Historic Site and worth the trip. Indian Key was, for a short period of time, the capital of Dade County during the time of the Wreckers. Remnants of the settlement are nicely maintained by the State

Little Italy:   Mile post 68.5, bayside.: Located just above the Long Key Viaduct; standard relatively inexpensive Italian fare. Open for breakfast at times. 305 664 4472. Can get quite busy.

***The Island Tiki: Located at the upper end of Marathon 12648 Overseas Highway-bayside; in Marathon they use street numbers- not mile posts. So this place is at 126th street.   We eat here a lot. The is u-shaped and quite large. You can eat inside or outside right on the water. It is a fun place and the food is remarkably good. Kids like it. 305 743 4191.

***Num-Thai Restaurant          and Sushi Bar Restaurant: Milepost 103, Bayside, Key Largo. While you may not wish to drive 40 miles to go to a restaurant, you'll be well rewarded if you do so. The cooking is top-notch.. The prices more unbelievable (during their happy hour, full dinner prices run between $7and $15). Wine, beer and Sake only. 305-451-5955. Stop here on your way in or out of the Keys or combine it with a visit to the John Pennekamp underwater park also at Mile Post 102 http://www.pennekamppark.com/.

Brazza Lena Argentinian Steak House- Mile post approximately MP 83 oceanside. A really fun experience. All the steak you can eat(12 different varieties) and terrific 60 foot long buffet- well done. 305 664 4959;   about $45.00 per person price fixed.

Hawk’s Cay Resort. One mile away to the South. Worth a visit at least. They have 3 restaurants, a marina store, and a lot of charter fishing boats.
